Ep #149 Grief is a Season

julie cluff, build a life after loss podcast ep 149 grief is a season

When you’re grieving, you often feel that you only have two options: to just get over it or to grieve forever. But it doesn’t take long for you to realize that neither of these options are ideal or helpful. So, you search for a third option.

Grief is a season and just like the long, dreary days of winter, the season of grief seems that it will never end. The middle is dark, lonesome, and heavy.  Just as winter begs us to hope for spring, grief encourages us to hope for joy again.  Grief pleads with us to grow and come to a higher level of understanding of ourselves, our world, and our belief systems.

In this episode, I also talk about psychiatry’s new diagnosis Prolonged Grief Disorder (PGD) and the tremendous dangers of referring to grief as a disorder.
